This piece was the inspiration for nocturne 2. It is meant to convey a depressing atmosphere. I'm sure there are several improvements. Feedback is appreciated.

It's very nice. I enjoyed listening to this. You manage to convey a mood of the night brilliantly, and your harmonies are absolutely wonderful.

My one comment would be about its lack of melody. I don't know if you are trying to write a traditional nocturne, but they are all very melodious.

Once again, well done. I did really enjoy listening to it so thank you.

Overall, I really like this piece. The language is unique, too. I like the way you use the major 7th scales throughout the piece, it is dreamy, yet strangely depressing.

I do have some qualms. Measure 6 has awkward bass voicing. I'd recommend the Fb on the first beat in the left hand be sent an octave down. Measures 7-12 are mostly fine, the playback itself isn't doing you favors. The treble should be quieter and let the bass come through. Measure 9, I don't like the third beat having a 3rd -> unison resolution. It sounds a little "weak."

Measures 17-51 are really effective. Almost whimsical and innocent, yet melancholic.

The happy parts that lighten up the piece ... I think it detracts from the atmosphere. Development is a good thing, I just felt like it didn't fit with the piece.

I appreciate your use of silence, by the way.

Thanks for sharing this, I really enjoyed listening to this 🙂
