pateceramics Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 What/who does this intro sound like? If I can figure out what, I can change it enough to keep the flavor of the original, but still stand alone on its own two musical feet. Name that tune! Any guesses? Ken320 Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 I'm drawing a blank. Can you pin it down in terms of a genre that you think you may have stolen this from? An ensemble? A decade? A century? It sounds vaguely Elgarish to me. Quote

Part of a choral work would make sense, since I spend so much time in choir land, but I can't place it. It just feels familiar. Quote
bkho Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Sounds original to me as well. It has a similar character to Beethoven's Ode to Joy but it is clearly very different. Perhaps you're "plagiarizing" yourself from an earlier work? I've done that before, writing something and being convinced I subconsciously stole it from someone and turning out to be actually from a scrap of something I wrote and abandoned a long time ago (I have a bad habit of starting many things and finishing very few). pateceramics Posted November 18, 2018 Author Posted November 18, 2018 Thank you both for your help. If someone notes a reference to ... later, I'll just pretend it was intentional admirative quoting. 😄 Quote
Gustav Johnson Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Ditto to all above. The motion around bar 3 reminds me of things from 1812 overture finale, and I agree about Ode to Joy, but it's more like noticing two people who happen to have brown hair in a similar haircut. Quote
