pianoman216 Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 My choir teacher in high school always had this metafore about how singing is like a ham and cheese sandwhich. So I wrote a song about a ham and cheese sandwhich, and got most of it recorded on this years choir CD. I've seen a few other random songs about food here and there, but has anyone else here written a song about food? if so, what? and why? Quote
Mitchell Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I've never composed any, but there is one on SibeliusMusic called, "The food that gets stuck in the drain of the sink." And it makes me laugh every time. Quote
Dirk Gently Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 For some reason, I read this thread and thought it read "Songs about froods" . Anyway, you can write music about anything, if it compels you to do so...and since so many people love food, I don't see why music about it should be unusual. I've never heard of anything pieces specifically about food, but I know Rossini was quite a big fan of food ;) Quote
PianoBeast10489 Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Nico once wrote a concerto for cream cheese and crackers once. It was interesting to see how he incorporated the crunching sound of crackers into the piece. Quote
CaltechViolist Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Not mine. But if these lyrics don't sound familiar, something's clearly wrong with you. :P Tried to amend my carnivorous habits Made it nearly seventy days Losin' weight without speed, eatin' sunflower seeds Drinkin' lots of carrot juice and soakin' up rays But at night I'd had these wonderful dreams Some kind of sensuous treat Not zucchini, fettucini or bulghur wheat But a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat Cheeseburger in paradise Heaven on earth with an onion slice Not too particular not too precise I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise... Daniel Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I seem to remember reviewing a piece on here called Parsnip, if I'm not mistaken :D I seem to remember remarking the piece managed to evoke a sense of parsnip quite well :P Quote
CaltechViolist Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Also don't forget Satie - Pieces in the Shape of a Pear... Quote
