Weston V Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum but i'm hoping i can get some much needed help. I recently started working on my very first musical composition and it has multiple sections. The "B" section is a Waltz that preferably needs to be in E Minor. I've never written a Waltz or Classical music in general. so it would be much appreciated if i could have some ideas on how to take it. Thanks, Weston Quote
aMusicComposer Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Just before I start, I would just like to point out that this sort of topic should be in "Composer's Headquarters" and once you have finished your piece you put it here. That said, composition is creativity, and thus cannot be taught. Unfortunately, this makes starting out very difficult 😀. Really, the only advice I can give you is to listen to lots of music and see what they sound like. Also, investing in a composition book such as Music Composition for Dummies can really help you write. Waltzes themselves aren't too difficult because they aren't specific - your music only really needs to be in triple time. I would imagine that you have decent musical knowledge because you talk about "B Sections" and specific keys. In the end, remember that your first piece won't be great. Don't let this discourage you. Practice makes perfect. Actually writing is the only way to get better. Good luck with your piece! Quote
