Mikebat321 Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Hi guys, just finished my new piece Rhapsody for Piano & Orchestra. Rhapsodic in form but really each new melody is a variation on the first. Hope you enjoy. Many thanks! 1 Quote
Jared Steven Destro Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 I enjoyed this very much! I found it to be fun and well-crafted, with the orchestral color being very well-developed. The transition around 2:50 was very successful, I felt. Great job! Quote
Sojar Voglar Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Not bad, but the orchestration and harmony quickly stall. More counterpoint writing and more varied harmonies would make it much better. The tonalities change very slow and when they do, they remain intact for several minutes. Also the punching rhythm in piano part does not have enough contrasts and it generally lacks more exciting virtouso passages. It makes the music more ambiental than probably wanted. I have to admit: after about half of duration I really wanted this composition to already end although I mostly enjoyed the section from 12:00 to approximately 13:45. Quote
Theodore Servin Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 (edited) This is really good! There is so much color and emotion, the orchestration is so rich, and the melodies are fantastic! It's rare to hear such clear and beautiful melodies, and with such amazing harmonies to accompany them! Admittedly, though, I did think some parts were a little too long, but overall, I really enjoyed this piece! It's an epic work, and that's great! Well done!
