CalibriStandard Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 I started working on a waltz and came up with a theme, but I'm not sure how to develop it. Can anyone give me any pointers? Thanks MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu waltz b flat minor > next PDF waltz b flat minor Quote
Tónskáld Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Your choices are limitless. But try playing it backwards, at least the note values. Maybe change up the key, too, to a major one or the relavant dominant. Quote
Monarcheon Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 You could opt for a sort of extended sentence form, where the sections are based on rhythmic motive as opposed to short portions of repetition. For example, I'm pretty sure you're aware of the main , repeated rhythmic element of the work, so your next (short) section is based off a slightly different one. In the fragments, it can be whatever you'd like, as long as they're brief and somewhat related, then finish off with the original. You can expand rhythmic theme 2 from there if you're still inspired to go. Quote
