I started working on a waltz and came up with a theme, but I'm not sure how to develop it. Can anyone give me any pointers? Thanks

You could opt for a sort of extended sentence form, where the sections are based on rhythmic motive as opposed to short portions of repetition. For example, I'm pretty sure you're aware of the main , repeated rhythmic element of the work, so your next (short) section is based off a slightly different one. In the fragments, it can be whatever you'd like, as long as they're brief and somewhat related, then finish off with the original. You can expand rhythmic theme 2 from there if you're still inspired to go.
