Marc Deflin Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Good morning (at least where I live 😅) 🙂 I wanted to try to write something for cello solo, with the (I'd say rather poor) knowledge I have of the instrument. Here's the result : Have a good day 🙂 PDF Promenade (pour violoncelle) Quote
Jared Steven Destro Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 I enjoyed the overall lyricism of this piece. At times, like m. 20, I found myself wanting a bit more rhythmic variety, so as to generate a bit more propulsion in the overall line. I can also envision a fuller, even stronger close to the piece (maybe more complete chords, though of course be cautious with playability/indication). In general, I thought it to be a great start, and I can see it going in a lot of different ways in the future (if you add to it)! Quote
Marc Deflin Posted August 13, 2019 Author Posted August 13, 2019 Thank you Jared 🙂 Thanks for analysis and encouragements, I'll try to improve in future pieces Quote
Luis Hernández Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Very nice melody. I like it. I'm not an expert either, but it sounds natural for the cello to my ears. Harmony is well defined with arpegiated chords. If I had to comment on something you could try it is this: suspensions. With this evocative melody (and in general) suspenden notes on endings, for example, make it more interesting. Quote
Marc Deflin Posted August 17, 2019 Author Posted August 17, 2019 Thank you @Luis Hernández 🙂 I'm sorry, but could you explain me what a suspended note is ? Only found "suspended chord" in Wikipedia ; is this related ? Have a nice day 🙂 Quote
Luis Hernández Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 When the final note, or the target note, is delayed you have a suspension if the preceding note is upon the final note, or a retardationretard.mp3 if the precending note comes from below. MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu retard > next Quote
Marc Deflin Posted August 17, 2019 Author Posted August 17, 2019 Ah ok, as simple as that 🙂 Ok, thanks Quote
