Hey!

I like this a lot. My only negative oppinion about it is the percussion. I think that using taiko drums/other types of heavy percussion can, at times, weaken the piece (because it has been used so much). Something I've done in some of my pieces is to use a divisi in the lower end of the strings, and set part of it to play pizz. and the other part arco. It creates an impact that can sound compelling, just as the drums, without beign very obvious. Also, if you're writing for a real orchestra, you can ask the strings to play with a little more force in some lines, creating a scratchy sound. It can sound very percussive, if used correctly.

Otherwise, this piece sounds amazing. I enjoyed all the parts, and I think the orchestration is very sharp.

Congratulations, Jean.

Hi, Yohann! Here are my thoughts on this work.

The recording was very well-done, maybe even professional. In that regard, it sounded like it could have come from any high-quality filmscore.

It was musically sound. My ears didn't pick up on any unnatural or ill-placed chords/chord progressions. You used the brass and strings quite effectively throughout.

One of the things that bothered me (just a little) was that the music was too "stereotyped." If you're composing mood music, my advice is to go for nuances of the emotion and not the obvious things people feel: angry drums to represent madness, for example, can sound an awful lot like a suspenseful scene (which is how I felt about this work). This really is a small thing, but it will help set you apart from typical filmscore composers—if that's something you want to do.

You've really done a great job overall! If you'd like better feedback, I suggest posting a score (if you have one).

Keep up the good work!

Yeah I understand when you say "stereotyped".  I still got a lot to learn since this is only my 8th composition of that kind, and I don't use any theory

Thank you very much Tónskáld !
