SergeOfArniVillage Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Recently finished the second in the set of "Ruins" pieces I'm currently working on. This piece is meant to highlight a feeling of regret. https://app.box.com/s/2nvypwqs6qku1sbftxg6reglwar5xlxi (Op. 4 No. 2 WAV File) https://app.box.com/s/lmkmy7vkumtwfgbixm0wi40cphmiv3nx (PDF Score) Quote
Luis Hernández Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Beautiful piece with nice modulation and figures. At first, the modulation in m. 29 sounds a bit odd... Quote
Monarcheon Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 Yes, that 29 modulation is a little strange... I was excited at first because I heard the first bar as an augmented triad and I thought you were going to nebulous (WT0) with it, but the result was a little underwhelming. Also, to me most of this sounds as though it should be in 3/4. I know Ravel did something similar in his piano concerto, but it's not as ambiguous sounding to me. Though, the piece is nice in and of itself. Quote
SergeOfArniVillage Posted September 24, 2019 Author Posted September 24, 2019 Thank you both for dropping by! @Monarcheon I've never heard the term nebulous WT0 before. What is that? Quote
Monarcheon Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Sorry, nebulous was an adjective, WT0 is the whole tone scale starting on C. Whole tone makes a pretty leadless sound, so I thought that's where it was going. Quote
SergeOfArniVillage Posted September 24, 2019 Author Posted September 24, 2019 Oh, ok, I see. Neat to learn a new term though: WT0. I learn something new here all the time! ☺️ Quote
Guillem82 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) Lovely piece. I like the "Ecos" around 0:50 and the modulation that leads to the change of texture around 1:06...I expected more of those "Ecos" or countermelodies along the piece, but never came. I think you could have use that resourse a bit more. Anyway harmony and accompaniment are delicious! Edited September 26, 2019 by Guillem82 Quote
