Jean Szulc Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 Hey! I've just posted the first piece I have ever written. I finished it about a year ago, and as I still enjoy it, I decided to post it on to my youtube channel. Here's the link to it. I don't expect to edit the piece anytime soon, but I would love to know what is your oppinion on it! Thank's for the attention, Jean. Quote
Luis Hernández Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 It's interesting, I like the full chromatic treatment. Although it's short, I would appreciate a contrasting section of phrase because the rhythm fills the whole piece. Perhaps a key signature like 12/8 or similar would be clearer. Quote

Changing the time signature would probably be a good idea. It was inspired by Camargo Guarnieri's Piano Études. If you never heard of it, I'd reccomend giving them a go. Heres a link for it! Quote
Tónskáld Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 This was an interesting piece, and I enjoyed listening to it! The rhythms were pretty cool! I did feel at times that the notes and chords were rather random. I'm all for spicing chords up with unpredictable chromatics, but it's a good idea to stick to a pattern so that it doesn't come out sounding like it was decided by a dice roll. That may not be the case at all with your piece... but that was my impression, so take it with a grain of salt. Great job! Thanks for posting this! Quote

As this was the first piece I wrote, about a year ago, I don't remember what was my exact thought-proccess, but I remember writing an initial "theme" and expanding it into full chromatism. 23 hours ago, Jean Szulc said: It was inspired by Camargo Guarnieri's Piano Études. I was very much into the études above, so that character grew quite strong in me. I really appreciate the feedback, Jean. Quote
