SilverWolf Posted October 27, 2019 Posted October 27, 2019 This is a verse sketch I created to check and get feedback as far as if its coherent or too rough. 1 Quote
aMusicComposer Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 I like the driving rhythm throughout. It's a very dramatic piece and the strong drums help to emphasise this. I think it builds well, with the strings becoming more coherent towards the end. I think that the phrases are well structured. What do you think will come before and after this? I can imagine some possible scenarios. Good job! 1 Quote
SilverWolf Posted October 28, 2019 Author Posted October 28, 2019 @aMusicComposer Thank you, I wrote a chorus and verse with piano and low strings and French horn section before it, but struggling with the transition. It's using the same scale so I don't want to use modulation, but trying to arrange a good chord with either strings or brass regular or inversion. Quote
Quinn Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 It would certainly do at the opening of a film or game as long as it wasn't repeated once played - simply because the energy and power as an opening would wear down. As it is, it's great. Without knowing what you wrote leading up to it, it's hard to say but a build up (which can be fairly fast/sudden) with a dirty great bang opening out into this section - or a build up then a dramatic pause of just one or two beats before hitting this section? Lots of power and drive in this. Well done. 1 Quote
SilverWolf Posted October 29, 2019 Author Posted October 29, 2019 @Quinn I'm definitely considering it as an intro to a different song instead. The current problem I having is just trying to smooth out the transition, if it all fails I could picture starting a song with it for sure! Quote
