Carmen Hunter Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 I started this piano a piece a few days ago, and now i'm stuck. I don't know how to continue the song without too much repetition or another fun key change. Thoughts? Ideas? Anything? andreaAAA Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 repeat the whole thing, contrast like crazy. fly with sixteens between the main notes, 4 beat major, 4 beat minor, only sixteen left hand against 1 whole right, only sixteen left hand against 1 whole left, use the unused octaves (2 - 6 - 7 ) for full spectrum harmony. the thing you are scared to do is often the thing that is actually needed, just repeat the whole thing, differently, put your darkest devil in there and then lightfully return to the main melody wich should be your piece soul, the piece should rotate around it like earth rotate around the sun Quote
J.Santos Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Instead of trying to work on harmonic patterns, why don't you really work on a motive with other directions, such more melodic (more than it's included in the harmonic direction)? You can also try to include "surprises" or innovate in different ways. Other than that, you just need to go out, listen the people you like/admire, being played or improvising, etc... Sometimes even changing music and listen simple music can bring you new ideas. 1 Quote
