Hello Everybody!

This is my second upload here,
I always wanted to compose something like this,
it is a composition using a few elements of another composition,
and starts just like the original,
but I try to steer it away from the original style pretty early on.

I'm interested in your opinion about it.

Moonlight Sonatina - 1st Movement:

I call it "Sonatina" just for the sake of it,
but it's not sonata form or anything like that,
I have some parts of the 2nd movement finished too,
but it's going to be a little bit rhythmic and I have to practice it too,
but I'm going to upload that 2nd movement when it's ready,
I don't have any idea for the 3rd movement yet.

I was not sure about the tempo of this one (1st movement),
at first, I tried to play about the same speed then most of the pianists play Beethoven's Moonlight 1st movement,
but it sounded too slow to me to my piece, so I decided to go a little bit faster than that.
What do you think about the speed?
Do you think it's good, or should I have chose the same speed as the original for more relatableness(?)? (I don't know English sorry 🙂 )

Anyways, Everbody have a nice day, and thank you for your critique + improvement tips!

Regards,
Lotsy

I daresay I almost like this better than Beethoven's own work. My main thing is that the repeated triplets whenever there's an interval involved can feel a little heavy-handed without variation. m. 27 to the end, for example, was a nice A∆9, but that ostinato really become obsinate-sounding (which is what its English translation is), and a little too foreground for my taste by the end. Lovely work, though.

Thank you very much for your tips Monarcheon!

I think you are right, maybe I will put a little up and down in the right hand movements starting from bar #27. Originally wanted to countinue this with different right haand part here, but the continuation turned out to be garbage so I just finished it there :)

Also, I think it would sound a little bit less bothering if I would have played the right hand triplets much quiter, I wasn't able to do that well because I'm not really good with plugins, although I used the Pianoteq plugin here, and I usually use a Bechstein piano sound, but for this one I wanted something less harsh sounding so I used a Steinway preset, and it kind of sounded softer, but the velocity response of that was very different, and I would have to "re-practice" the song just for the new velocity curve, because I couldn't set it manually well enough, maybe in the future I will upload a new version with quieter right had triplets part, I think that would help a little bit.

I'm not really good performer on the piano, actually I am an organist, but I love the piano too, but I always had problem with the dynamics aspect of it, I tend to have random loud notes, almost like sforzando on a few notes here and there, and sometimes I have to correct them afterwards in the MIDI editing part, but I correct MID only when I find it absolutely neccessary, usually I'm too lazy to do that, I just want to make an acceptable Demo recording of my music and that's OK for me most of the time :)

Thank you for your help again,

and have a nice day! :)

Hi. I also think it's a beautiful piece. It sounds modern.

Hello Luis! 🙂

Thank you very much for your kind words! Yes, I think I'm definitely under the influence of today's non-classical music too, and that makes me want to write not-really-classical music nowadays, but I love classical music too.

It's interesting you use the word "modern". When I say some music is modern, I usually think of for ex. Schönberg style music, or "close-to-sound-design-with-contemporary-orchestral-pieces-type-of-music" stuff, but I understand what you mean by that.
I terms of THAT type of "modern" sound (the "relaxing piano-Youtube search" - type of music), I agree with you completely, I aim for that style of music nowadays, but I'm usually open for almost any style/genre of music. There is always some gold nuggets even in the weirdest music (and of course to think that a piece of music is weird or not weird is subjective to everyone, at least at the moment that's what I think, but maybe this is just my subjective opinion 🙂 )

Is there a correct official term for this genre of music?
I always struggle to put different pieces of music in different genres/styles, because usually I feel that many music piece/song are in various styles at the same time, like one feet in one tyle and the other feet in a completely different style. (That might sound weird in English, it's just a raw translation from my native language as we say it here 🙂 )

Thank you for your kind comment again,
Have a nice day!

Lotsy

(made something a bit clearer hopefully, I'm far from awesome at communicating in English yet, sorry :) )

This is excellent. Much enjoyed your adaptation... keep posting friend

Thank you so much for your encouragement! Sometimes it really helps and gives me a new unit(?) of stamina, which I'm going to use to compose new things of course :)

Have a great day Markus!

(sorry I seriously have to work on my English vocabulary)

Great variation or better said "Reminiscence" of beethoven's work!! It's really beautiful.

I love the way you make it see like a modern piece. Keep doing great!

Thank you J.Santos! Very much appreciated :)
It always gives me some extra motivation for composing next time.

I am planning to do a similar thing with a different composer and a different piece,
I will share it here again, when it's ready.

Have a great day!
