jawoodruff Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 In this piece, I've taken the ideas I had behind the formal structure of my earlier upload, Episode #1, and I've changed it up a bit (largely listening to the critiques that work garnered). I've never been good describing my ideas in detail -long standing trait. Much like Episode #1, this work takes the basic Rondo structure and expands upon it. When I originally thought of the idea for an episodic (rondo-like) formal structure, my original goal was to intersperse the A sections with heavily contrapuntal material (B, C, and D sections all being fugal in nature). While I still may do a work like this in the future, I think that -for now- I'm trying to find a way to make this type of structure work for the language that I use in my works. The score is a lot nicer (thank you MUSESCORE!) MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Episode #2 > next PDF Episode #2 1 Quote
Left Unexplained Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 really like 0:36. the run at 1:40 is dope. Atonal isn't really my thing but you make it work pretty darn well. Good job. Quote
Valerio Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 in spite not liking atonal music, I have to say I found this piece quite compelling. It's very well structured. I like the section starting at b38, and the clusters work really well. Also, well done to musescore! It seems to work great! Is this the new musescore design? I saw a youtube video where they comment on a lot of improvements.. Maybe I should give it a try 1 Quote
Jean Szulc Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Congratulations on a sucessful piece! The restatements of the rondo theme is very clever, as you never let its apparition become obvious. This makes up for a very continuous flow. Also, everything is musicaly pleasing and the shortness of the piece feels very apropriate. It seems fresh throughout and leaves no space for a tired ear. 1 Quote
