Donethur Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Hello, here I am sharing a piece for piano composed the last year. Hope you like it 🙂 https://soundcloud.com/donethur/piece-for-piano-h Quote
ModderKevin Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) Hey this really sounds like Mozart or something. It's nice! Around 30 seconds, I think the transition could be a bit smoother. I really like the diminished chords following that though!😀 Edited January 9, 2020 by ModderKevin Quote

I was inspired mostly in Beethoven for this :), It trended to sound darker than other pieces I have and my music is generally strong in its sonority, so it ended sounding like him adapted to my style. I have to say that Beethoven and Chopin are my favorite composers. the transition you mention, I actually like it, but I guess, there are different tastes and decisions, which results in several composers taking different paths, therefore making different music. I always try to be honest with myself, if I feel it is correct, then I try to leave it as it is (otherwise I would feel it is not my music). It was different before anyway (it had more high notes at that transition). But I tried to leave a small silence in the higher notes for what was coming next. thanks for your comment and listening :) Edited January 9, 2020 by Donethur Quote

Now that you mention it, you did make a great decision when you took out the high notes there. It gave the piece a darker mood which is what you were going for and what I also personally like. Honestly, I'm still learning composition so it's really cool to talk to an actually good composer like you. Also, how do you position your microphone when you are recording? I'm just wondering because it sounds quite professional. Quote

I am not a good pianist, so I try to dedicate more to the composition. Libraries nowadays can sound amazingly realistic (you are not the first one who thinks it is a real piano). I use EWQL pianos, in this piece it is the Bosendorfer. this library is very good. I recently purchased the Bluethner from Vienna Symphonic library and it is killer, very realistic, check how it sounds:  Quote
ModderKevin Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Wow, that is really cool. Thanks for sharing that with me! I will be sure to check out that library because I usually record on the grand piano but I also have a electric piano which can use sound libraries. Quote

Donethur Posted January 9, 2020 Author Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) By the way, if you liked that piece, maybe you could like other piece I composed as this is the closer one I have to the piece H. 🙂  Edited January 9, 2020 by Donethur Quote
ModderKevin Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Oh yeah! I saw this etude earlier while I was scrolling through your profile. It does seem similar to Chopin's style. I'm really catching onto the chromatics. Just listening to the first second of the piece reminds me of the ocean etude. Nice! Quote

Nice!  Yes, well read, it was inspired in Chopins works 🙂  Quote
