an arrangement for jazz band from the band: Trapt

Headstrong is one of the singles from the "Trapt"  back from 2002

To me, this is an iconic song that has been featured in many games I used to play in my early childhood years.

This classic rock song is taken directly from the original track along with an added solo section for the trumpets to stand out and show off their skills and not to also mention the short genre change from hard rock to a Latin style.

Let me know what you think of this arrangement (preferably for a high school jazz band group)

Wow, I really enjoyed listening to this. I've never thought of this song as being one that would sound good for jazz or big band, but my gosh is it good.

I think that the high trumpet parts are very cool (among many other cool parts) but whether it would sound good for a group of high school players would depend on how good of a player they are. I've known some very talented high school trumpets who could play that, but I've known a lot more that probably wouldn't be at that skill level until college.

The whole piece overall had really good contrast between parts, there was a lot of good stuff going on will solos and special instrument effects/parts, and it was overall pretty good. The only thing that I would possibly consider changing would be adding a bass guitar and bringing the piano part out during the main sections instead of just out at the very end.

Thanks for listening and thank you for the feedback. It is greatly appreciative of you. I will be sure to work more on "watering down" the difficulty for the piece. Thank you again.

I agree with the points made above. I would like to hear this player by a group of more experienced players just as you arranged it instead of watering down. How you layered the "where you belong..." section was beautiful. It was full sounding and chord choice was excellently picked. Thank you for sharing!

1) No need to put "jazz" on the parts.  It's already known that they are.

2).  Now as far as assumption, never assume that people have perfect pitch or can just hear the chord changes.  Why did I write that? Because you have NO CHORD CHANGES on your parts.   MAJOR MAJOR NO-NO.
