Jehonathan Sher Lipschitz Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 I want to find one really good Solo strings VST instruments (prise doesn't matter) the I can use for ensembles (like quartets, trios and more). It means that maybe they fit together nicely... I'll be happy to share one of my works if I'll find a good one😉 Quote
Atlantis_ Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 I like EastWest Hollywood Orchestra Strings. You can buy the entire orchestra on sale for about $300. http://www.soundsonline.com/hollywood-orchestra  Quote

I do not know of any viola or double bass vsts -aside from the one's from VSL and EastWest. But I am sure they're out there! Take a listen to the Joshua Bell link. It sounds amazing. https://www.embertone.com/instruments/joshuabellviolin.php https://cinesamples.com/product/tina-guo-vol-2 Edited January 27, 2020 by Esper Quote
Ken320 Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Spitfire Audio has two different solo string libraries. One recorded in Air Studios in London and one I don't know where, but they are both good. Quote

Ken320 Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 A German company, named BestService.com, also referred to as Harmonic Subtones (?) It's an easy to use library, easy on your computer too. I have five other solo violin libraries but this may be my go to lib because it's vibrato is faster than the others, and it has interesting articulations and EQ names, like Velvet. Quote

maestrowick Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 @Quinn!!! YOU'RE MY HERO!!! now I have to wait for this key to arrive! Quote
Quinn Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) No heroics, 'onnist, guv! But I did a lot of research and VSL was the only answer - ALL the strings, muted and open; most articulations - some are missing (like muted and sul ponte glissandi. And things like you can change articulations during playing (eg vibrato to non-vib, or either to tremolo (normal or sul ponte/tasto) using the slot cross-fader. (I didn't even know what the slot x-fader was until I watched their videos)! And you get violin and cello 2 - more limited in articulations but useful in a quartet/quintet. I never looked back.  Edited March 25, 2020 by Quinn sound file withdrawn Quote
