Jan-Peter de Jager Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Today I was experimenting and some kind of piece came out. It's based on a part of a part of the first prayer of St. Gregory of Narek: 'The voice of a sighing heart, it sobs and mournful cries I offer up to you, O Seer of Secrets placing the fruits of my wavering mind as a savory sacrifice on the fire of my grieving soul to be deliverd to you in the censer of my will.' http://www.stgregoryofnarek.am/book.php?parent_id=2&type=2&type_1=none MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Prayer 1 (online-audio-converter.com) > next PDF Prayer 1 Quote
Luis Hernández Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Very beautiful I like it. I don't mind the hands are quite far, the effect is good (for me). Perhaps you can use the 8va bassa sign. Quote
jawoodruff Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Yay! I'm not alone in my love for those type of chords!!! I think hearing it live would make the low bass sound much better and fuller -midi is horrible at rendering the lower range of the piano. I think your motivic material has a lot of possibilities. I think you should expand this to better illustrate, musically, the prayer. Perhaps use diminution on your motif, sequence it upwards and then use it to create a sense of eternal fire. Or.. another possibility is to transform the homogeneous accompaniment while the motif slowly rises sequentially? Lots of ideas here. Expand this!! Quote
