Jean Szulc Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Sounds amazing! The question is: how exactly do you expect it to be performed? Is it for one piano using a specific tuning, or will this be performed on multiple instruments each with a different tuning? 1 Quote

I think it has to be performed using two pianos; maybe with slowing it down a little. Quote

Jean Szulc Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 I think this will be incredibly hard to play if divided into two people. Perhaps a two keyboard harpsichord might be useful, if each one is tuned a half-tone apart. Besides that, I don’t see another way of doing it other than by an immense effort by a couple of musicians. 1 Quote
jawoodruff Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Interesting concept. I know when I was studying at CCPA in Chicago, we had a piano that was able to play microtones. I honestly never got into it -even though I know the potential for enhancing and expanding the scope of harmonies is greatly increased through the use of microtones. That said, nice work. Would love to hear it live. 1 Quote

There is an option for notating microtones, and a plugin you can download to get playback. I made use of Arabic maqams (special scales) that contain microtones.
