Ali Afifi Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Hi, my name is Ali Afifi. I’m new the the Young Composers Forum, and I decided to share some of my compositions with you all to hear your feedback on them, and suggestions on what I should improve and what I should keep the same. One of my compositions I would love to hear your opinion on is my Sonata for piano in D major, posted on MuseScore (https://musescore.com/user/4035251/scores/5675232). It is currently my best finished work of music, but keep in mind this is seven months ago, and I have somewhat improved in composing music. Yet like I said, this is my best finished piece so far, so I would like to hear your opinion on it. Thank you. 🙂 2 Quote
Theodore Servin Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Welcome, Ali! I'm glad you found the site! I like your sonata! I've already heard it before, and I still think it's really nice! I especially liked the fugato in the first movement. You have a good understanding of classical formal and harmonic makeup. I can really hear the influence of Beethoven in your music. I hope you post more beautiful works such as this one! Meanwhile, you can get familiar with the site's inner workings, and consider commenting on other composers' works as well. I hope you find yourself at home here! Quote
Markus Boyd Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 This is a large work. Perhaps you can tell us a little about it (i.e. what are your intentions, pitfalls and successes)? Quote
Tortualex Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I don't have much to add but, I like it a lot. It's one of the few pieces in major that I like :3. Quote
Markus Boyd Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Ok. Well, I can say that the form is great, and your ideas are engaging and at times quite adventurous. Where did you learn to compose, and has this been performed in any capacity? Quote
