chopin Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Hi everyone! I have a question about beaming notes in music and how to find the correct number of beats in a measure. Does anyone know why 3/4 time has 3 beats, but 6/8 time has 2 beats? For example, I am trying to understand why in 3/4 time we group eighth notes by 2's and in 6/8 time we group eighth notes by 3's. marsbars Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Well I would have to say it has to with where the accents fall. With 3/4 the accents being on one. And 6/8 the accents falling on 1 & 4 Quote
