Karisa L Clark Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Alright. I need your opinions and feedback!! I am nowhere near finished. I don't want to be too repetitive (although, it does repeat and build off of that repetition). It is lighthearted and happy, almost like a romantic waltz between the flute and oboe... BTW. I am fine with blunt responses. If you don't like it, or have criticisms, please... I don't get offended easily. Also would appreciate feedback on the quality of the overall audio. (Also not set on the title of it yet... perhaps it needs more refinement before a title will present itself?) Thank you for your time and effort in your responses! https://soundcloud.com/karisalclark/dance-of-the-flute-wip/s-SOQ67NxEeMu?fbclid=IwAR3dtQI8V7n6D4vrte7v573QoNwxH0VdBLC7sJjwTL3Ob2IyrQZrM3juADA 1 Quote
caters Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 The harmony could do with some slight variation. But the melody, it has enough variation that despite the repetition, the melody itself doesn't feel too repetitive. As for varying the harmony, that could be anything from adding chords in between the chords of your loop(Em -> C -> G -> Am is your loop, right?) to adding extensions like sevenths and ninths to some of the chords. 1 1 Quote
Monarcheon Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 I'm not a fan of the plucked anticipation of scale degree 5 on the VII. Intermixing the oboe and flute in such close proximity and slightly different parts is a neat effect, but I don't hear it as warranted quite yet, especially when this just feels like an introduction. Make it less isochronous (beat-driven) as it goes on. It's partly why I hear this as an intro. Quote
