Rabbival507 Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Long time no see. I was busy with military business, romantic relationships, covid, etc. Now, at long last, I managed to compose a music piece after more than half a year. The piece is based around the coda of the known Bach piece "Toccata and Fugue in Dm", reimagined as a boss fight with three loop-able phases and transitions. Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions. As usual, constructive criticism is most welcome. This piece has no score because I don't think it's perform-able. Jean Szulc Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 As a great The Elder Scrolls fan, this speaks to me personally. I absolutely love it! First, how did you get such great choir sounds? I feel like I would have enjoyed a part without the organ. Maybe you could create a bit of a "claustrophobic", clustery section using just the choir. This would of course depend on the boss fight itself, and if it would actually make sense having such a section. Musically speaking, I feel like it would be a nice touch. It would even make the organ sound more relevant and necessary on the piece, I think. Everything after 4:06 could be deleted, in my opinion. It is a bit anti-climatic to listen to this part after all that has come before it. Besides that, maybe listen to Thierry Escaich. He is a composer/organist, and I quite like what he does in some of his music/arrangements. Just sending you this so that maybe you can find some nice ideas for your future works. Overall, I genuinelly like it! Great job 😉 Quote

It is a bit anti-climatic to listen to this part after all that has come before it. That's just the ending and restatement saying "here's the bare sample I took it from". In a game that would be the gloomy victory music. I do consider now doing a choir-only legato high clusters part [thinking...] that could work well if not for the parameters. You see, as the soundtrack is planned to work- the method the player fights affects the score. The choir goes for the mana/holly approach and thus a player who'll choose to go face to face millitary sword and shield combat will get... nothing at that part. Thanks for the idea tho :) Quote
