Rileyt
I have trouble a lot of the time with naming my pieces. Usually I just call them “Riley’s Piece #(whatever number)”, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for how to name a piece.
Tónskáld
I'm sure you're aware there isn't a right or wrong way to do this, and I think it largely depends on your sources of inspiration. Certainly, you can name your pieces in the fashion of traditional classical composers—Sonata no. 1, String Quartet in C major, Prelude in G minor—if your works reflect those categories. (If you're unsure of the various forms of traditional classical music, I think a quick Google search or Wikipedia browse will get you quite up to speed. Or just listen to a lot of music and have a look at the titles.) Others might name their works based on the images they were trying to convey, like Debussy's La Mer or Koechlin's Star Symphony. Composers generally have it a bit easier than authors in coming up with names for their artform, so I wouldn't sweat too much over it. 🙂
