Here my new Choral work for voice, strings and organ. It has no lyrics yet, but it definitely has to be for some religious purpose. I think it is a very solemn, optimistic and bright piece.

Any comments are wellcome (I also appreciate suggestions for the lyrics 🙂).

From the instrumentation I expected a totally opposite emotion to this piece, like a requiem or something, but I guess there are also a lot of jubilant pieces in that category.  This was enjoyable but quite repetitive - maybe you could vary the words sung the 2nd time around - don't you just sometimes wish you learned Latin in school?  My favorite part is measure 17 and 39.  Now you just have to find those "very solemn, optimistic and bright" words for this.  Good job and good luck!

You can find countless classical work with that arrangement. You should hear at some "Missa Brevis" from Mozart, Haydn or Schubert, that's the most typical arrangement they used...It's right though that strings parts are usually more intependent than mine.

For a Requiem I would have probably added 3 trombone doubling alto, tenor and bass part as most the classicals used to do 🙂.

I know some latin, just did one years in highschool, but knowing Spanish as a mother tongue and some Italian, I guess I can to pick up the meaning of 90% of the words 😅.

And yes, I could probably vary the repetition a bit.

Thanks for you comments...I will search for some "solemn, optimistic and bright" latin words as you suggest...

I would like more bass action in your music generally 🙂

I think the circle of 5ths is a great way to get the bass moving along...

I think English would be good (we need more than Handel for baroque choral music 🙂)

I'm stealing this from the Handel, who stole it from the Bible, but I think this works well:

"Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, and hath redeemed us to God by His blood, to receive power, and riches, and wisdom,
and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
Blessing and honour, glory and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb, for ever and ever.
Amen." - Revelations 5: 12-14

Thanks for your comments!

I will try with that lyrics from Haendel.
