Saulsmusic Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 He is my favorite composer. Any Mendelssohn fans here? Quote
Guest JohnGalt Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 "Eh" is sort of like a "meh" but more negative, when used in a negative manner. :D There is no real meaning for it. It's like defining "um". Quote
Daniel Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Mendelssohn rocks! I think there are probably quite a few fans on here. Nico and Evan included :D One of the very best early romantics IMO. Quote
Guest JohnGalt Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Yeah, I'd have to agree with Daniel. Not my favorite, but still very good. Quote
Guest Anders Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Of course i'm a fan of Mendelssohn. I mean, who isn't! He composed a wonderfull string octet (even thinking of it makes me all fuzzy inside) and some grandiose (not an insult, as would normally be the case if *I* were to use such a word :D) symphonies. I'm particularly fond of his use of counterpoint - mmmm, the string octet comes to mind... Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Mendelssohn is on a par with Mozart (my idol) in my estimation. I wish I had a dime for every time his music brought tears to my eyes. Quote

They say Mendel & Son got popular because queen victoria liked his music while in her bath or something. Quote

Calehay Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 String Quartet No. 2 Op. 13 Absolutely wonderful. If you haven't heard it, you must. Quote
Saulsmusic Posted September 7, 2006 Author Posted September 7, 2006 The majority of Mendelssohn's works are Great, not only the string quartets. Quote
