PeterthePapercomPoser Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Beautiful! It sounds great with pitched percussion as well but the Marimba can't play some of those ultra-low notes you have written for piano. My orchestration book says the lowest note for marimba is the F below the staff in bass clef. You really have a beautiful lyrical melody for the voice. And the harmonic contrast you achieve by modulating to the parallel minor but at the sub-mediant level is genius. Also using the lowered 6th degree in the major mode was very bittersweet. Great job! 1 Quote

PeterthePapercomPoser Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 @Yuchanbot I looked through the score again and it seems like with some modifications you could produce a playable version of this piece for Marimba (and was that a Celesta?) if you transposed it up a major 3rd into C major. Then all you'd need to do is transpose a few remaining low notes up an octave and it would be playable by those instruments. Just an option if you really wanted it to be performed by those instruments. 😃 Quote
