javileru Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 A couple of weeks ago I found a video of a lecture by Leonard Berstein. I thought it would be intersting to share it with YC. Here is the link! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3745343762060782419&q=leonard+bernstein&hl=en Quote
Guest JohnGalt Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I once found one of his old books in my school library. It was pretty cool, but obviously dated. Quote
javileru Posted September 8, 2006 Author Posted September 8, 2006 John , thought you were giving me a lesson. Meaning that I should have specify what was the main topic of that particular lecture. this is what I quoted at first: " I once found 'an' old book in my school library." Quote
Upstart Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Hi guys, Dredging up an old post but just watched the full hour of the Bernstein lecture. Its a shame there's not the other 5 lectures! I'll have to look for them I suppose... I found it fascinating, and very informative as a beginner and deeply moving to here someone as articulate and sensitive as Bernstein give it. Speaking of Bernstein, I was watching a documentary entitled "Leanord Bernstein: The Gift of Music", and it was probably the most moving documentary experience I've ever had - and probably one of those most moving musical experiences I've ever had. I don't think I've ever seen someone speak so intimately and informatively of their joy of music. To say that it was merely inspiring to see a human being capable of expressing such wisdom and depth of understanding of the constituent parts of music and more importantly the inexpressible identity of what it means tobe human, was clearly an understatement to me. Bernstein has coloured my perception of the possiblities of music and the chance we each have to immerse ourselves in it to that depth of understanding. When this litmus test is performed, what colour we turn out, will be some statement of our temprament and attitude... So which one are you - acidic or alkaline? not much of a choice is it :( Till next time, Adeiu, Pravin Quote
Daniel Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Yea, please post if you know where the other 5 are - that was pretty good. Quote
