Tom_Kor Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 (edited) Hej everyone. Just would like to share with you with my work. Apparently, I have finished only two: Op. 2 ( Barcarolle) and Op. 3. (Mazurka). Both, played by my pianist friend- Vitalij. Hope you will enjoy this music. PeterthePapercomPoser Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Hi Tomas! Pretty good for your first two pieces! What I notice about both your pieces is that they are somewhat constricted melodically to within a very narrow range. The melodies rarely wander out to explore higher notes (except maybe at the end of the Mazurka a little bit or in the Barcarolle when the left hand crosses over the right). The Mazurka also seems a bit languid for a Mazurka. Usually they're a bit faster - I don't know if that was a performance issue or if you wrote it that way. You also seemed disinclined to modulate or wander away from your tonic minor. Whenever I thought I heard a hint of a relative major tonality you quickly return to the minor (in the Barcarolle). Maybe you intended to portray only one mood per piece? Still, a contrasting section was very much in demand during your music. You do use some colorful chords in both pieces but they are used only in passing it seems. Maybe if you want to create a more striking contrast you could change a couple of the characteristics of your music at the same time - register, harmony, articulation, rhythmic stress and anything else you can think of. Thanks for the music! Quote
Thatguy v2.0 Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Dude that barcarolle was absolutely gorgeous, and we got a live performace too!!! I'd echo PaperComposer about the piano's range. Well done, and welcome Quote
