Papageno Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 This piece is in 4/4 time but its in the style of the minuets ive been writing. I guess it could have the title, 'tempo di menuetto' to indicate not just the tempo but style of the piece. It can be played on the piano or for flute and cello which I like. Quote
Luis Hernández Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 It's totally coherent and with beautiful counterpoint. Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Your phrasing after the repeat is 2 + 4 + 3 + 4 which threw me off a bit. Besides that it's nice just as many of your pieces! I'm glad to see you're back - haven't seen you in a while. 1 Quote
Papageno Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 Thank you for listening and for your comments. I managed to find a solution for the odd phrasing and transposed it up to FM so that the flute sings better and the cello gets to play exciting notes in its higher register 2 Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Hi Darren @Papageno, On 10/14/2020 at 5:57 AM, Papageno said: I managed to find a solution for the odd phrasing Yup I enjoy the modified version more with a more regular bar structure! I love you have 2 bar and 4 bar phrasing mixing, instead of just having regular 4 bar phrasing in the Minuet, for example in the second half of the minuet you are having 2+4+2+4 now and I love how the first bar of the 4 bar phrasings, e.g. bar 15 and 21 are interpreted by me in my first listening as the third bar of a 4 bar phrasing combining the previous two bars, and this for sure add humour in it. I also love that even though you are just having two monophonic instruments here, the harmony never gets bare and the movement is keep going forward. A nice minuet and a nice piece for afternoon tea (my time here) for sure! The audio is in Eb major rather than F major haha!!! But I love Eb major anyways. Thx for sharing! Henry Quote
