ClarkN Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Is this better? also, I guess this would be a better Fughette. Fugue in C Minor.mid Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Is this better? Well, you started out OK, but before the end of the second entrance you lost your way. Tell you what: for right now, maybe don't worry about whether what you write constitutes a "real" or "proper" fugue. Just play with the subjects and have a good time with them, which seems to be what you're doing anyway and enjoying. You'll learn a lot about composition in general that way. Now, if you really want to learn what a real fugue is and how to write one, you might start by taking a look at my thread "A Crash-Course In Writing Fugues" http://www.youngcomposers.com/t3239/a-crash-course-in-writing-fugues/ in Advice and Techniques. stevehjohnsto Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 This looked like a really interesting challenge, so I gave it a go. I tried using the D Major theme (subject 3). I'd really like some feedback, and advice on what I could improve on (development section is definitely a bit wierd:P) shj3DmajFugue.mid Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 You've got the basic gist of it, better than many. I'd say just keep working the subjects and you're bound to improve. Quote

PaulP Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Good to see this thread is still going after all these years. I'm wondering why my files aren't present anymore, though, hmm. Good to be back. Quote
