Taj Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Hello, I am new here, so I apologize in advance if I have posted this message in the wrong place. I am not a composer so this is likely the last post I will ever make here. I am posting this question, directed at anyone who composes music: “Suppose you are locked up under solitary confinement in a prison. (It might help to imagine the prison situation in The Man in the Iron Mask.) As a composer, how would you deal with your situation?” Try to answer this question as best you can without letting other replies to this post influence your response. I am not looking for advice, but am only interested in knowing you would do in this situation. I am asking it only out of pure curiosity. Thank you, Taj Quote
montpellier Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Depending on prison comforts and the length of the term, I'd ask for music paper, erasers, pencils (and a means of sharpening them) and get on with it. Nice if I could have a keyboard + phones too. Solidtude is hard to come by in my life and just a week is something to prize so I probably wouldn't get on too badly. Some years ago I had to work for a few weeks in the tropics. The (unsafe) evenings might have been boring. I wanted to write music. Facilities were absent so I ruled up some music paper to cope with a flood of inspiration. M Quote
