Fugax Contrapunctus
Recently the music notation software I'm currently using got a somewhat annoying update that in the end would no longer let me export a score to audio formats. However, I have found another way to share my work, and thus I have decided to forth upload my pieces to MuseScore. This is the first one among those I'll upload as I finish composing them, and hopefully it won't be the last! EDIT: the new link is https://musescore.com/user/33067017/scores/6503060?share=copy_link . Inspired by the bizarrely approaching festive days, I took a popular theme (the fugal subject) which is sung at Christmas as "December 25th, foom, foom, foom!" ("Veinticinco de Diciembre" in Spanish) and started developing this fugue thereof. As I introduced myself in the score's description, I also put to words the hopes of most of us around the world in regards to the current global pandemic: may 2021 not be as much of a terrible year this one has turned out to! That being said, I probably won't upload till 2021, but even if I do, I shall wish all of you now: have a prosperous and merry Christmas, and a happy new year 2021. Gwendolyn Przyjazna
This is stunning! You obviously put a lot of thought and precision into this. Even though the piece is just three minutes long, the form holds together really well; The material doesn't change so fast as to be confusing, but it is never boring. I really like what you did at the end of bar 58 - that little pause in the rhythm prevents the melody from being a total information overload. I feel like you could have a few more moments like that throughout the piece. I would also suggest adding some dynamic markings here and there if that's possible, which would also help to give the piece more variety. Anyways, really nice work! I've always been fascinated by fugues, so this post caught my eye. 🙂
