Mikebat321
May I humbly invite you to listen to Theme and Variations for solo piano, composed years ago but recently recorded. Heavily influenced by Ludwig! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loA2GX6cof8 Many thanks.
PeterthePapercomPoser
Such a chorale-like theme is open to very melodically-free variations which you take full advantage of. Although I imagine that coming up with variations that weren't harmonically-fixed to the original theme might have been challenging. Also, it's a shame that you stick so stringently to a Beethovenian style as I think, thinking outside of the box might have yielded more original variations. When I start writing variations I usually just brainstorm a whole bunch of seemingly unrelated ideas in my musical notepad and not necessarily stylistically unified either. Then I get to work on combining them and changing them further into something more musically coherent. You must have the Beethoven sonatas pretty much under your fingers to come up with this. No one variation stands out to me as my favorite though. Thanks for sharing!
