Giacomo925 Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Since there were a couple of (very good!) short fugues posted earlier, I would love to get feedback and be shown the contrapuntal errors there are in this piece of mine... Thanks if you give it a listen! MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Fughetta winds > next PDF Fughetta winds Quote
maestrowick Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 So, there's some good things going on here. My comments: 1) This should be longer. You have enough material to make this a 3-4 minute piece! 2) Fix that rhythm in meas. 7 in the clarinet. 3.) This instrumentation is a little funky. Traditionally, a woodwind quartet is Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, and Bassoon. Now, who's to stay you can't break tradition? Problem is, it's EASIER to get your music played when it's normal instrumentation. I STRONGLY recommend you adjust this wonderful composition for normal instrumentation. My $0.02 Quote
Giacomo925 Posted February 20, 2021 Author Posted February 20, 2021 (edited) Hey @maestrowick thanks so much for listening and commenting and for your nice words! What's wrong with measure 7? And, THANK YOU, I changed to ensamble to the more traditional one (I had to switch second and third voice because the oboe couldn't play some of the notes in the second voice) and it sounds much better. I might try to expand it - thanks for the encouragement - although I don't feel superconfident about writing a full-fledged fugue 🙂 Edited February 20, 2021 by Giacomo925 1 Quote
