March 29, 20214 yr An experimental piece. I used galant schemas but used weird chromaticism with diverging lines in places. I dont know if it works but its fun.
July 26, 20214 yr It's a pretty enough tune but....why experimental? It comes across diatonic and traditional with a few adventures into the augmented 6ths etc. that held my interest. I couldn't spot any weird chromatics. A couple of nifty modulations! A pleasant listen!

I gave up on getting feed back for this piece so it was a pleasant surprise to see it resurrected from the depths of the server. I think you're right, its not experimental within the language of the classical period. I was thinking more from a conservative point of view such as Leopold Mozart. The melody is strange especially the beginning of the B section and I generally avoid anything too odd and whenever I do keep something I'm not sure about I tend to label it experimental.
September 12, 20214 yr I just love the main theme and the way the jumps in octaves and staccatos between cello and flute - for example m 11, nice shift in rhythm there. Quirky and fun piece

Its quite an odd piece and when I first uploaded it, it passed from the first page of the chamber music over time without a comment so I assumed it had no merit and that perhaps I have a strange musical taste in quirky themes! I'm happy you liked it. 🙂

Thank you for listening to my music and for your comment. I agree, its not quite Mozart but there are a few Classical period chliches in there. It does have a german dance vibe to it in places too. I think its important to try out new ideas as a composer and its ok when they don't work. The classical Canon is full of 'what did work' of course, but I'd love to have heard some of the strange things they wrote or improvised. I think this is how musical language evolves. Beethoven's 3rd symphony must have sounded odd to musical conservatives for example but nothing was ever the same afterwords.
