ComposedBySam Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 This is a piece that I wrote when I had just started out composing. And yes, this piece is inspired from Bach's WTC. Any constructive criticism is welcome and appreciated. PDF Prelude and Fugue. Quote
Luis Hernández Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Beautiful, but the motive is overused. 1 Quote
Graeme Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 (edited) Much to be admired about this piece. If you would humour me, strive for a little more contrast. I think my interest waned a little with the lack of development of the rhythm in the motif. Maybe, if I was sitting beside you, I might suggest that you "double" the length of the motif sometimes, extending the sweep and wave of the melody, and enriching it with some rhythmic undercurrents and harmonic spice. These strategies would "unbalance" the piece more, having impact like an artist "breaking the frame", and this would raise the mystery quotient of the melody. But, it is a good "first prelude". Well done. Edited August 18, 2021 by Graeme More ideas to add Quote

Well done. Thank you for the very kind advice. Yes, this piece lacks some rythmic variety. And thank you very much for your kind words. Quote
