DanJTitchener Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 (edited) Hi all This is my first fugue-style piece, for Clarinet and Bassoon. I'd welcome any thoughts and feedback. My first finished piece after a year without composing, it was fun to explore a new style. Dan https://youtu.be/y0SVpLJKf1w Edited June 6, 2021 by DanJTitchener 1 Quote
Luis Hernández Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Nice work.... It has the essence of counterpoint with some modern gestures. I like it. 1 Quote
Vonias Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Dan! Great rhythmic mastery! Sounds as complete as the day is short. Consider, a larger ensemble, and plugging it in a symphony! 1 Quote

You inspired me to go on with my composition! Thanks! Good luck and glad I was able to inspire you! Feel free to send it over to me when you finish it 😊 Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Nice job! It was an enjoyable piece of music and used some very logical sequences in it's episodes! Usually fugues have subjects that are longer than just one measure which made your fugue sound more like an invention to me but it's pretty good for a first attempt! Great creative respelling of an E fully diminished 7th chord as a C# diminished that led you back to F#7 in measure 15. Thanks for sharing! Quote
