Coming down a country road in anticipation, trepidation and joy.  It begins with the opening theme and ends with it.  The music is programmatic and speaks for itself.

LoL.  I think I wouldn't have known that it was programmatic if you hadn't told me so the music doesn't really speak for itself.  The statement above just kind of struck me as an odd and funny kind of oxymoron.  (The statements "the music is programmatic" and "the music speaks for itself" are mutually exclusive) 😂

It's very energetic and upbeat!  Kinda neoclassical in it's approach.  It stays diatonic to a single scale/tonality for long periods of time with great variation in gesture which makes it exciting!  You do have contrasting sections with changes of pace included which keeps the piece interesting.  Cool ending.  Something that I guess I'll pick on as something that I think you could improve is that you stay on one standing chord/scale for long periods of time and don't modulate although you have contrasting sections with a different sound.  But I guess that's kind of your style of composition.  Overall it's enjoyable though!  Thanks for sharing.

Works well enough for me. I'd say that perhaps the section from 1:50 feels a little disjointed, there're a lot of ideas going on there in a short space of time. As a little audio thing, I think your percussion could be mixed a little quieter. Did you use Musescore soundfonts? Sounds like it to me.

I do really enjoy your creative orchestration. The little dashes of colour by short phrases on instruments are almost pointillistic and I think there's some great ideas.

I'll second PaperComposer - overall it's really enjoyable! I look forward to hearing more of your work.

I am pleased you enjoyed the work.  It began as a chamber music work for clarinet and cello and I decided to orchestrate the work.  If you like I can post the chamber work for a comparison.  I am an amateur oboist and play in 3 community orchestras.  This provides me the opportunity to really appreciate the different orchestral combinations, etc.  I have been composing for 10 years ... I started composing very simple and unsophisticated works.  I become more serious about 2 years ago.

I have a question, is there a category to post works in progress?  One of things I enjoy is bringing people along for the ride as well as looking for feedback.

I would be interested in seeing the chamber score - quite an unusual combination, although with much potential for beauty! Your woodwind composing was particularly interesting and now I understand why - you're an oboist! You definitely play in the best section of the orchestra... not that I'm biased but GO TEAM WOODWIND!

And yes, here we have an "Incomplete Works" section. I always feel it's slightly underused, people often post just to ask specific questions (which is fine, but as you say there's not much of a "journey")

Well for me the journey is the most important part.  It's too bad it's underutilized.  I always have something under construction and I most probably will use that section in the future.  It's wonderful to see how the work evolves over time.  I going to post the Clarinet and Cello composition which the Home Coming orchestra work is based upon.
