Luis Hernández Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 A short piece taking a very old progression. MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Passamezzo Antiquo > next PDF PASSAMEZZO ANTICO 1 Quote
MJFOBOE Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 The orchestration feels heavy ... and too square. The transitions between themes seems abrupt too. The melody to me - requires a lighter touch/orchestration. Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 I had to look up what a passamezzo is. Really cool effect you produce here! I think it sounds like a lumbering old man in character - I guess it's meant to be an old Italian dance. It sounds heavy, but I think you balance the heavy sections nicely with lighter interludes. I think though that if you removed the heavy portions, it just wouldn't be the same piece anymore - the heavy parts almost seem like they're the whole point of the piece. It brings to mind heavy stomping from a fat old man with a cane LoL. Thanks for sharing. Quote
Quinn Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 Am interesting piece. Short enough that it could be a dance, at one moment ponderous, heavy, the next letting light and air in (if that makes sense). I can imagine it in a ballet where a ponderous character appears alongside another far lighter. It might also preface a festive event. Scoring and balance are every bit up to your usual quality. Thank you for a pleasant listen. Q Quote
