chopin Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 Instead of posting this in the announcements forum, I decided to post here because I have 2 purposes. Would love for you to demo some of your more complex works you are proud of in one thread, let's have a discussion around them! Please don't actually upload here though. First, make sure you use the appropriate dedicated uploads forums to post your piece, write a good description around your motivation behind the piece, then reply to my thread here with the link to the piece! Or if the piece is already on the uploads forum, simply link to it here instead. Caveats: Caveat 1: Works posted here will be candidates in a commercial I am going to create for a product I am working on for the cloud called Music Jotter. Your works will be short excerpts, because they have to fit into a 1 to 1:30 minute commercial ad. This means, I will have to do some critical listening to every piece here. Will be fun! Once I am done selecting the pieces, I will close the thread. Caveat 2: Must be a decent recording. My main purpose would be to demo the potential of Music Jotter by using composed pieces of the community. If no one bites, I will just use all of my music for the commercial. But I would love to have some variety! Here are some points I am trying to make as a selling point: The ease of use of a program is critical for music creativity. I want to show how flexible and intuitive the software is. The use of tuples is seamless and like no other program out there. A composer wont shy away from using tuples in Music Jotter, because tuples will be fun to use, fully supported and easy to jot down on the score. Music scrubbing is a great tool to have for quick analysis. Advanced writing requires the use of critical listening. The beauty of a score helps promote great and healthy score writing. The recording of your music is just as important as the score aesthetics. All works showcased in the commercial will be credited using your Young Composers profile address! Thanks everyone! Looking forward to the submissions. Quote
bkho Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 Sounds cool! I have a few candidates with a different mix of ensembles depending on what you are looking for: An orchestral waltz: https://www.youngcomposers.com/t34006/symphonic-waltz-in-b-flat-minor/ A excerpt from my Requiem for large orchestra and chorus: https://www.youngcomposers.com/t34189/requiem-vii-confutatis-maledictis/ A virtuosic set of piano variations on the simple theme, "Happy Birthday" (was a submission for a YC contest) https://www.youngcomposers.com/t34420/variations-on-happy-birthday-fall-2016-competition-submission/ A Bach-like fantasy for organ: https://www.youngcomposers.com/t36376/fantasia-in-c-minor-for-organ/ Quote
chopin Posted July 23, 2021 Author Posted July 23, 2021 @bkho Requiem Oh I love this one, I can definitely try and layer parts of this into the commercial showcase. Happy birthday variations I may snag a clip from one of your phrases, to show off its virtuosity. Really cool and fun way to change a boring melody into such unique harmonic variations. Bach like fantasy I love the energy / intensity of your organ piece. Depending on if there are other submissions, I may take a snippet from this one. 1 Quote
Tortualex Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 I guess trying doesn't hurt. This tango is one of my best and most recent compositions, it is for bandoneon, violin, viola, double bass and piano, bandoneon is not very popular so could be a good example of flexibility: Tango: https://www.youngcomposers.com/t42420/tango-attempt/?tab=comments#comment-1186700768 The pdf and mp3 is at the very bottom. Maybe this waltz in F major could help as well. Waltz: https://www.youngcomposers.com/t41725/waltz-in-f-major-getting-out-of-my-comfort-zone/?tab=comments#comment-1186698228 I hope you find something useful, if not it is okay. Good luck with your comercial :3. Quote
