I'm studying Gradus ad Parnassum, and love its didactic over theoretical manner.

do you have any recommendations for books that teach writing for many more instruments, or just harmony in the general?

or any books on music

Fundamentals of Musical Composition by Arnold Schoenberg is a good one for learning about musical forms from the small building blocks to the large sonata form. And I think he wrote a book on harmony as well, but I don’t know what it’s called, nor do I have it.

I happen to be in the middle of writing my own book on music theory and I’m deep into the harmony section right now.
