Kirsten Williams Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 Sorry for the wait I uploaded it!! Thank you for taking time to look at my piece. I really appreciate it!!! 1 Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Mostly your rhythms in this piece are pretty nicely laid out but this: sticks out like a sore thumb. 16th note's should be organized into groups of 4 in this time signature like you have throughout the whole rest of your piece. It would make it much easier to read and understand if the D was a sixteenth note tied to a dotted 8th note. Cool ostinato pattern that you set up in the Viola part in meas. 9! In measure 3 you give the Trumpet a Db which imo would be clearer and less redundant if it were a C#. Have you written music before or is this your first piece? What are your goals with this composition and in music in general? Do you go to school? Great job and thanks for sharing! Quote
Luis Hernández Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 It's a strange combination of instruments. I guess the viola take te bass part. What I like most is the counterpoint. Quote
Kirsten Williams Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 This is one of my first original pieces I have written actually. I have met with great composers such as Robert W Smith and Brian Balmages. I have been studying music since 1st grade. I have been trying to compose since I was 12. I'm currently a junior in high school. I have a lot of goals when it comes to writing music. I really want to have many of my ensemble pieces played. I play a viola but in marching band I'm mostly with the percussion. I have written a few big ones and a bunch of arrangements. I have written pieces for jazz and brass quartets. I absolutely love jazz scales and major minor pentatonic scales. 1 Quote
