Hi all,

Here's a short/miniature woodwind quintet (from 8 years ago) which I once again reviewed a gave it a very light touch.

I quite like this quaint little wind piece.  A note on the score:  the meter change to 6/8 seems redundant.  The music continues to sound as if it's in 3/4 to me and there are very few exceptions that suggest that the meter might in fact be in 6/8.  Most of the rhythms imply 3/4 imo.  Also there seems to be some notes missing in the recording ... ???  Measure 15 beat 2 the flute and oboe have staccato notes that aren't played on that beat (only on beat 3 are they audible).  Also, the piece seems like it hasn't really led the listener away on any kind of journey.  It's basically focused on one thematic idea elaborated upon over the course of a minute and half.  It's like the equivalent of a vignette in literature which is meant to just convey a description of a scene, character or idea without any development in plot or action.  That's the kind of impression I get from this piece.  I don't know if that was your intent.  Although it serves it's purpose and is entertaining nonetheless.  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the review.  Yes ... it's a quaint little wind piece ... a vignette as you say. ... nothing more than a breeze.  I'll take a look at measure 15 and see what gives and I'll review the meter.  I wrote a few woodwind miniatures as a collection.
