Here's a piece I am currently devoting time to ... it's a short work for Oboe and Piano in a simple ABA form.

All suggestions most welcome.

I think there is no transition back to the A material after quite a jaunty and lively B section which almost seems like it belongs in another piece with how melancholy the A material sounds.  The B section just stops suddenly and the sharp contrast between the two sections makes it really that much more obvious that the two sections don't mesh with each other imo.  There are some long phrases in the oboe that would have to be interrupted if the oboist is to not turn blue (like the first long 8 measure phrase at the very beginning).  But I'm sure you know that already and it should be easy enough for them to sneak a breath in - I'm just not sure if there's enough time to also breathe out the air they might still have in their diaphragm.  Anyway - that's my take on it.  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the feedback ... still a work in progress.  I'll see what I can do about the transition(s).  As per the breathing ... not a real problem ... there are places to exhale and inhale ... within the Oboe line.

I love the piano harmonies in A en the joyous melody in B. Agreed the sections could better be connected. You could analyse what they have in common and on this foundation make a transition... Thanks for posting!

Excellent work. I see it is a work in progress. Your sheet music is organized. Your use of dynamics and articulations with the oboe is well done. The only suggestion I would offer is to have the oboe take more precedence in the sound. Maybe raise the volume of the oboe or lower the piano.

First of thanks for you who have taken the time to respond to my post.

I added to the work.  It is now ABCA in structure.  So there is a new section (sentiment) which then transitions back to the opening theme.

What do you think?  All comments most welcome.
