The Music Man Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 The best I find is 6/8, I just seem to get a lot of ideas for this time signature, and the left hand is easier to do. Quote
jacob Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 15/16. 15/16 is similar to 7/8 in its "minus-one" relationship to 4/4, but 15/16 goes further, depriving you by a mere sixteenth-note of your expectation. That's only one grouping, of course (4 4 4 3). There are others, (5 5 5) and (5 4 3 2 1) being my favorites. I wrote a snippet in 15/16 for an amazing string quartet and they couldn't really sightread it. (It wasn't fast or anything.) Three years ago I wrote another snippet that was a variation on Mozart, as part of a project here. You can listen over here. Quote
eldeni Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 my fav is 6/8, it sounds so smooth and not squared like a 3/4 or 6/4... i think time signatures depend on what melody you came up with at first... i guess is about how you come up with melodies... if you dream about a melody and write it down it could be 4/4 or 6/8, etc... now, technically (fun) i write 5/8 the most... i think it Quote
Charlie Gregson Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 My favs: 4/4 7/4 (or 7/8) 6/8 9/8 12/8 Quote
Ciel Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I just for some reason want to make love to 4/4. Quote
