Guillem82 Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Here a duet for flute and Violin with continuo in a baroque imitating style with some doble conterpoint I composed recently. In the ritornello the flute basically repeats violin phrases in the higher octave. Three episodes are placed between the ritornellos with some flute and Violin solos. Let me know your opinion. Omicronrg9 Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 My opinion is that if it sounds like this in MIDI, I would pay some bucks to see it in a live performance. I cannot resist baroque music, and in this case I do like this rondo's ritornello. I like the first "episode" a little bit more than the second and the third one. The structure is very clear as you stated in the post. Here's your like sir, thank you for sharing :B Kind regards ^^! 1 Quote

I agree with you, the first episode is also my favourite one. There is some double conterpoint there, meaning the parts invertet the counterpoint with each other. The ritornello entry there has a nice contrasting effect with the entry of the Basso Continuo after some solo bars. I love the orchestration simplicity in baroque style, with very few instruments and without any use of dynamics contrast is created by just adding instruments. Its the principle of the Concerto Grossi with the solo group versus the Tutti. Quote
