muchen_ Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 I think it's quite clear from the overall look and sound that you're going for something more adventurous than a pure Baroque Allemande, with lots of nice chromatic harmonies. It worked very well! The tempo and dynamics you've chosen here gives the piece a sort of tranquil, nocturne-like feel. I really like it. A few minor objections here. The first is that the ending is unconvincing: the final bar sounds like it began in C major. The second is that I feel like an Allemande should have an unimpeded semiquaver rhythm throughout (excluding the opening and closing bars). It's one of the defining characteristic of an Allemande to me and I start to lose that sense if the semiquavers are interrupted. 1 Quote

Yes even I felt that the ending was unconvincing. And regarding the defining rythm of an allemande, i will keep it in mind from now on Quote
Luis Hernández Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 Nice piece. I like the dark sound but perhaps it's a bit too much ¿? Why do you call it English Suite? It is supposed it includes some typical English music? I love this motif: Quote

I called it english suite because this is a baroque suite which starts with a prelude and that is what an English suite is. When a baroque suite starts with Allemande, it's called French suite. Quote
Tom_Kor Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 Lovely Allemande. Very clean while played. Do you also play? 1 Quote

Omicronrg9 Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Oh nice. Don't know how I ended up here since this topic has been here for some time already but let's begin anyway: • I am not familiar with Allemandes overall so my criticism will not be based on that. • Which software are you using this time? Or is it a human interpretation? I ask because It is reading the left hand of the 2nd half of the fifth measure as if it was stacatto, which is very nice but it isn't shown. It happens in other bars, is it something typical of this kind of piece? • I cannot really find something I dislike or that doesn't convince me (perhaps M11? Nah, not really, it's good to my ears too). I liked the first section, it is very solid, but the second one has won me totally. I cannot agree with Luis on the liking of that motif you made. Very, very nice! You deserve more views on your channel mate, keep going! 1 Quote

I made the staccatos invisible in the sheet as I didn't want this to be the only interpretation of the piece (but I personally like the staccato version). A romantic and legatissimo rendition of this would be acceptable to me too, hence I didn't show the staccatos. Thanks again for listening and appreciating! It means a lot 🙂 1 Quote
