Simen-N
Pastorale in F major for keyboard written to my newborn son as a lullaby. The form of this piece is not very pastorale, more like a chorale cantata or something like that. Please telle me what you think! Omicronrg9
Good morning from here! I believe that I am hearing an organ not a harpsichord...(?) The first part sounds a bit like a lullaby, but the Vivace section that comes after sounds too "interesting" for that purpose in my opinion. I have not slept at all tonight and this piece of yours isn't making that effect, hehe. Perhaps the ostinato in the third section could... The repetition of the 6/8 motive which I like was imo a good way to end this piece. I also like the choice of organ stops. Kind regards ^^! Aiwendil
It's a nice piece. The one thing that felt awkward to me was the moments, for example in m. 12-13, where you move from a dominant to a subdominant. I suppose you're thinking in terms of voice leading rather than chord progressions, so maybe this is my "modern" ear, but I can't help hear this as a V - IV, which sounds out of place to me. That, however, is obviously a very minor complaint. I enjoyed the piece, especially the little fugato in the middle.

Thank your for listening! 🙂 I see what you mean, but still i hope it will bring tierdness to a one week old boy 😛 I had to put something more livly in it (for me to play and not die of boredom) so those parts is for the fun of it. 🙂

Thank you for listening! 🙂 that type of voiceleading is not uncommon in early/mid italian/north german baroque style. Tends more to the renaissance. I would say that this piece is written in stradella/schutz/preatorius influence. Glad you enjoyed the music. Thank you again for listening and commenting.
