Omicronrg9 Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) Hi guys! This time I come with something a bit different. This is NOT a composition of mine (at least the core of it) but an arrangement I made around 2019 for 2 pianos of the piece "The calm" that belongs to The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth OST by Ridiculon. The OST itself was not too much of my liking, or at least not to the level of Baranowsky's work in the original game but still I liked that piece and thought that since I was too much into doing Baranowsky-only arrangements it would be nice to check the new OST more in-depth. Eventually, I moved on to other stuff and only made that one. But anyway, here it is (video, PDF & MP3). Ah, yes. If arrangements are not supposed to be there or are not legit just tell me and I'll remove the piece. MP3 & PDF (complete and parts) should be somewhere abo...Turns out it is below. Please tell me if you find something weird or directly wrong. Whatever you think, you know, comments, details, more general feedback, whatever of that is very welcome below, as always. I have put a lot of effort into video editing (of which I didn't know anything about two days ago so I have tons of things to learn I guess) but that's not the point here. Kind regards ^^, Daniel–Ømicrón. Edited July 24, 2022 by Omicronrg9 Oops. Thatguy v2.0 Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Cool arrangement! I'd say I like both the original and yours equally for different reasons. The plethora of different colors and timbres in the original were really cool and gave it loads of color. However, I liked how you really orchestrated yours, even though it was a bit heavy on the full tutti sound. It reminded me of Ravel orchestrating Mussorgsky different piano pieces. Both are great for different reasons. Well done! I will say that I didn't care for the video though. You're really good at it, and it's really pretty, but it was really hard to read the notes while the midi graphics were running over them. I found myself switching back and forth from watching midi notes to notation. Just a bit busy is all. It's a cool software, but maybe in the future just go with one or the other. Thanks for sharing, I dig the gothic Danny Elfman type of style Quote

I do think that one piano was more than enough but I decided to maintain both. Perhaps I will do a single piano arrangement some other time. 4 hours ago, Thatguy v2.0 said: I will say that I didn't care for the video though. The software itself only puts the piano and the counter. I had to figure out myself how to put the rest, and yeah I agree, it might be a bit too much. I did include the score because normally in this kind of videos you find either a certain background or nothing. Putting the score as a background seemed like a good idea instead of some random image or no background at all, plus it was something I hadn't seen. I find it easy to read but that's because I made the score lol. The obvious possibility of someone trying to reading it carefully from the video did not cross my mind for some reason. I honestly would like to preserve both, I find it pretty as you said so I will keep thinking of ways to "innovate" in that part. Thank you for your feedback man! Quote
